September is Craniofacial Acceptance month and LWR will be celebrating it by honoring our patients. LWR entered Africa for its first medical mission and performed 58 surgeries for children and adults born with craniofacial birth defects.
One 16-year old young man we met in Zimbabwe named Slempa, told us that in his village 300km away from Harare, people call him “split mouth.” There is no acceptance for children born in underdeveloped countries. People like Ernest will not even look you in the eyes, because all they have ever known is rejection and humiliation.
Let’s raise awareness, raise money and RUN in honor of children like Slempa!!
